1 large potato, peeled and cubed
1 large sweet potato, peeled and cubed
1 cup green beans, whole
1 cup sliced carrot
1 cup green peas
1 cup diced tomato
1/2 tsp. turmeric
1 tsp. salt
1/2 cups coconut flakes, unsweetened
3 green chilies,
2 tbsp. ghee
1 sprig curry (karhi) leaves, fresh
1 cup plain yogurt (curds)


  1. Combine 2 cups water with salt and turmeric and bring to a boil. Add vegetables, except tomatoes and peas, and boil for 5-6 minutes. Add tomatoes and peas and reduce heat.
  2. While vegetables boil, combine the coconut, green chilies and yogurt in a blender and blend to form a smooth paste
  3. Add to vegetables and mix.
  4. In a small skillet, heat the ghee and saute the karhi leaves for 2 minutes.
  5. Add karhi leaves to stew, continue simmering for 2-3 minutes and serve.
