Ingredients

1 pomfret (or other white fish), cleaned and cut into fillets.
1 coconut, grated
1/2 tsp. cumin seeds
4 cloves garlic
1 marble sized ball of tamarind
1 cup water
4 green chillies, cut lengthwise
1 onion, sliced
1 1-inch piece ginger, finely chopped
6 dried red chillies
1 tsp. ground turmeric
1 mango, cubed
1 lemon
Salt to taste

Directions

  1. Dissolve tamarind with 1 cup water.
  2. Sprinkle lemon juice and salt onto fish and set aside to marinade for an hour.
  3. Grind the coconut, dry chillies, cumin seeds and garlic together. Use a spice grinder or clean coffee grinder (if you don't have spice grinder).
  4. Mix the onion, ginger, turmeric and green chillies.
  5. Combine all the ingredients except the fish in a large skillet and simmer over medium heat for 10 minutes.
  6. Add fish and continue simmering until fish is done.
  7. Serve with plain boiled rice.

I'm not sure exactly why but this blog is loading extremely slow for me. Is anyone else having this problem or is it a issue on my end? I'll check back later on and see if the problem still exists.
