These “cookies” are made with thickened milk dough. Form into balls, cut into squares, or even use a cookie mold of your favorite shape. If you don’t have khoya, you can substitute 14 oz can of condensed milk plus 1 cup milk. If you make the substitution, use 1/2 cup sugar instead of 1-1/4 cup.

Ingredients

18 oz. khoya
1-1/4 cup powdered sugar
8 to 10 pistachios, sliced
1/2 tsp. ground cardamom

Directions

  1. Mix the khoya and powedered sugar.
  2. Heat in a skillet over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens (about 8 minutes).
  3. Remove from heat and let cool for 10 minutes. Add cardamom and mix.
  4. Take small amount of mixture and form into a small ball. Press 2 or 3 slices of pistachio into the center.
  5. Continue with remaining mixture.
